CLIMATE EMERGENCY - SO WHAT DO WE DO NOW?

TIME FOR RADICAL SOLUTIONS....
If we really want to tackle our climate emergency it's time for radical solutions. It's brilliant that there's suddenly much more awareness of our climate emergency but how much actual change has there been? Sadly, it looks more and more likely that we will be living in a world of collapsing systems and resources and will just have to get along as best we can. The good news is that there's lots we can do to prepare ourselves, and a lot of it is fascinating, fun and empowering for individual and communities.

I've been exploring practical solutions since 2006 on eco projects here in the UK and Portugal and have seen what works and what doesn't work in practice. With the help of all my friends I'd like to:

  • put up lots of ideas for discussion, and further research and development
  • help to plan and design large and small eco projects, from gardens to farms and estates, from villages to whole cities
  • share our experience through talks and courses, teaching how to make the stuff we need with hand tools, and how to grow and store food:  SKILLS PAGE
  • and also start planning the sort of radical large scale projects which we could be starting up right now: PLAN Z
It would be helpful to make a few big shifts in our thinking:

  • We need to start thinking about NATURAL WEALTH as our primary wealth, and financial wealth as secondary to that. Health is Wealth, for people and the environment
  • The quality of our ACCESS TO LAND is crucial
  • We need to switch to locally based economies built around the REGENERATION of diverse, abundant woodland, agroforestry, forest gardens and regenerative agriculture
  • And we need to think of ourselves as citizens of one planet not many different countries and work better together on our local projects: PEOPLE GETTING ON
