!! CLIMATE BRAINSTORM !!

COMING UP SATURDAY 9th NOVEMBER

with Ian Watt & Friends

MORNING at Zero Waste Space, Bike Station, Perth

AFTERNOON at Perth Community Farm, Jeanfield Road, Perth

CLIMATE EMERGENCY... SO WHAT DO WE DO NOW?

and... WHAT WOULD A SUSTAINABLE PERTH LOOK LIKE?

A day of ideas, actual practical experience and lots of discussion about the kind of radical changes we'll have to make if we're serious about averting climate disaster.
IAN: "I've been reading and talking about climate and environmental issues with people since the 1970's. Over the last twelve years I've visited, and lived and worked on eco projects, farms and villages in Portugal and all over the UK to see what people are doing. Solutions are out there! Change can be scary but it can also be a lot of fun".
Ian and Ruth's most sustainable time - 6 years living by an orchard on a hill farm in Shropshire in the LogCabavan, lot's of lessons learned!

MORNING - At Zero Waste, information, discussion, games:

I've got two short presentations lined up covering lots of ground:
  • PERMACULTURE the principles of designing systems that work with Nature
  • TREES - carbon capture, food forests, succession, a whole TREE-CONOMY?
  • POST-FOSSIL FUEL PERTH - what would that look like? PLAN Z
  • ACCESS TO LAND - our government recognizes the emergency and wants our input, so let's think about what we want, at local, county and country levels, and tell them
  • OTHER TOPICS - I want to pack in as much as we can, even just to open up things up for discussion, and I'll post up links to all this stuff so that people can look into it all further themselves: Regenerative Agriculture, Natural Wealth vs. Financial Wealth, Zero Waste - Zero Fossil Fuel and, most importantly...
...THE PEOPLE GETTING ON GAME
Ruth and I have a devised a game which helps people to think about why they would or wouldn't get on together, crucial for happy projects - fascinating and fun.

AFTERNOON - visit to Perth Community Farm, Jeanfield Road, Perth

Then in the afternoon we'll visit the excellent Perth Community Farm project where we've been putting a lot of these ideas into practice. I'm hoping we'll see a few of our regular volunteers up there and maybe lend a hand with some of the ongoing tasks. Lots to see including our successes and failures in growing food, there's also an area we've pretty much left wild so you can see SUCCESSION in action and there's our shed made from palettes. We've been keen to get kids involved right from the start and you'll see loads set up for them, and much more...

Afternoon: visit to Perth Community Farm

SUM UP: SO WHAT DO WE DO NOW?

We'll finish up with a final brainstorm about where we go from here.
Numbers are limited for this event so book early through EVENTBRITE
