It's taken me and a team of trusty volunteers a little while but we at last have the roof up on our new outdoor/indoor space, currently known as the "GazeeBarn" until we can come up with a better name.
We started making the trusses for it back last summer - very handy to have the huge open polytunnel space for working on full lengths of wood. Dean and Jess working away there... |
Mark and I get the first truss in place. |
We set out the rails from the first truss then fitted the posts to them so as to get everything square and true. The larch posts were kindly donated by Phil of the Woods. |
Rails fit into checks in the posts. The purlins are all checked into the trusses which makes for a very sturdy, square construction |
Gary in his element... |
Frame complete... |
Roof sheets up, thank you Sandy for passing these reclaimed sheets on to us and for the loan of the angle grinder to cut them to size |
...and there it is. Loads more to do, gutters etc, but I feel the main part of it's done now, and we can even start using it. |
